The countdown to the deadline by which you must submit your tax return has begun. Don't let filling in your tax return hang over your head like a dark cloud until the last minute and then find yourself in a panic about getting the job done. Personal Finance, in conjunction with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), is publishing an easy-to-follow two-page guide to filling in your return. The guide will outline what you need to do before you file a tax return by paper or electronically. Then it will take you through the sections of the return, with helpful information on how to complete it quickly and painlessly. With this guide, you will easily meet the tax return filing deadline - the first deadline, for paper returns, is September 30; the second, for electronic returns eFiled from your own computer or at a SARS branch, is November 26; while those who pay provisional tax and file electronically have until January 31 next year to do so.
